2001 VGA TOUR SEMI-FINALS BEGIN TODAY

70 Cyber-Golfers Compete For
Chance to Win $50,000 Grand Prize
Microsoft
announced today that the VGA Links Cup Tour Semi-Finals, the invitational
event of the Links 2001 Virtual Golf Association (VGA) Tour, begins today.
The top 70 moneyboard leaders (plus ties) will battle for the top four
positions on the virtual Westfields Golf Club course in Virginia. The four
leaders at the end of competition will earn a berth at the finals.
Defending champion Paul Willey
(Paul_Willey) ended up in fourth place after the first three rounds and
another VGA 2000 finalist, Mike Scheutz (SCHEUTZ) ended regulation play in
second.

This year, VGA Tour
participants are comprised of cyber-golfers from up to 13 different
countries, all of whom are competing for a share of over $75,000 in prize
money, including the $50,000 grand prize. Over 17,000 golfers registered to
participate in this year’s
Virtual Golf Association Tour.
The 2001 Virtual Golf
Association Tour includes three preliminary major tournaments, a semi-final
for the top 70 on the money board, and the VGA Finals, which will be held
November 19 and 20 at a special location yet to be announced. The top four
players will compete head-to-head in match play.
