Official correspondence on the Links series from
Microsoft
Links 2001 Newsletter (July 31st, 2001)
Hi
there!!
Familiar
faces are no longer in the top five of the Links 2001 VGA Tour. MikeM has
dominated the first two tournaments and now sits on top, with veterans Paul
Wiley and Mike Scheutz playing catch-up. We've also got a reminder for course
designers who wish to submit their courses for a chance to play golf with
Sergio Garcia. Lastly, the
Armchair Architect contest is quickly coming to a conclusion, so be sure to
submit your screenshots to become eligible!

this issue:
MikeM
Retains Lead in VGA Tour with a -67 in the Links European Open
Defending
Champion Paul Wiley shot a -50 during the Links European Open, the second
stop on the Links 2001 VGA Tour. This dropped Wiley down to 54th spot, far
back of current leader MikeM, who shot a -67 to retain the VGA Tour overall
lead. The complete results
from the Links European Open can be found at:

Please bear in mind that the amounts
listed on this board will be awarded once all events have been completed.
Throughout the tournament, all scores will be reviewed, and changes may be
made pending any outcome from such reviews.
Congratulations to everyone who
participated in the second event
of the Links 2001 VGA Tour. The next event, the Links Championship,
is scheduled to take place on August
20. Stay tuned for further details.
Armchair
Architect Contest Deadline Closing Fast
Just
a reminder that the deadline is
approaching to enter your course into the Armchair
Architect contest. All entries must be finalized by August 30 to be
eligible. If you've signed up already, be sure to submit
a screenshot of your course. You'll need
to take three screen shots: your best tee area, best green area, and
one from any location of your choice. Total combined size of the three
screenshots cannot exceed 500k.
Remember: if you’ve finished
any original design since May 15, you can post your
screenshots on the Armchair
Architect Web site now. There
are great prizes – a round of golf with Sergio Garcia, new golf clubs, a
trip to visit a real-life golf course architect, and a tee time at Golf
Digest’s #1-rated golf course for 2000!
(hint: located on the Monterey Peninsula in California)
