Links 2001 Newsletter (May 25th, 2001)
Hi
there!!
We have an
exciting announcement to make for the Links community,
and we wanted you to have a heads up on what's going to happen. Links Country
Club is going to help drive traffic to your
sites - read more about this below!
In
this issue:
Announcing
Links Country Club
Microsoft
is announcing a new Web site for its Links franchise:
Links Country Club, the official portal to the Links fan community, will go
live on June 18.
LinksCountryClub.com
will direct visitors to popular Links fan sites,
as well as offer original content and activities from Microsoft, such as the
Links Tour. The 2001 Links VGA Tour will also originate from
LinksCountryClub.com and details of this tour will be announced soon.
By
partnering with Links fan sites, LinksCountryClub.com will point visitors to
popular community sites for news, golf course downloads, discussion boards,
and more. For example, someone wishing to find courses to download
would visit the new site, navigate to the "Downloads" section,
then be directed to any of a number of fan sites that offer course
downloads.
Scott Lee, Links Product Manager,
feels that a tight community is very important. "What makes Links so
popular is the strong community. By providing one central 'portal' where all
Links players -- both current
and new -- can go to discover
other Links fan sites, players and fan sites alike will have a more tightly
knit community, richer online experience, and increased traffic and
participation. LinksCountryClub.com will help players find everything from
tournaments to new courses to community discussion boards and news, all
originating from a single Web
site devoted to Links players with their interests at the forefront - just
like a real country club."
Mark Hulka, former webmaster at Access
Software, will be the new webmaster for LinksCountryClub.com.
Says Mark, "I'm really excited to join the Links community
again! I believe the Links Country Club will be an enormous asset to Links
players!"
Mark will work with Links fan community
and Web sites to ensure that links from LinksCountryClub.com to fan
sites are current and supported. He will be joined by David Cass, who will
help run tournaments on Links Tour.
Reminder:
LSTour Closing June 1
Just
a reminder that the LSTour
will be closing its virtual doors on June 30.
Bruce Darby of Microsoft will be posting reminders on the LS Tour home page
as we draw closer to the end date. For those of you still using Links LS
2000, feel free to visit the many fan tournament sites that utilize this
version. If you have Links 2001, be sure to visit the Links
Tour and get involved in all the
tournament action.
