Today,
Microsoft Game Studios announced an agreement with
two of golf's premier players, David Toms and Annika
Sorenstam. The duo will be featured in the latest
installment of the all-time best-selling PC golf
franchise, Links 2003.
Toms
and Sorenstam join fellow professional golf
superstars, Sergio Garcia and Jesper Parnevik, on
the growing list of elite golfers featured in Links
2003. The agreement allows the Links
development team to create 3-D versions of the
superstar golfers allowing PC golfers across the
world the opportunity to play as these tour
professionals. Links 2003 marks the second time
Sergio Garcia and Annika Sorenstam have been
featured in the Links series, while David Toms and
Jesper Parnevik tee it up for the first time as a
part of the Links family.
In
2001, Toms captured three PGA tournament wins,
including his first major - the PGA Championship and
finished 3rd on the PGA Tour Money List. This year,
Toms has already amassed five Top 10 finishes and is
currently the 7th ranked player in the world.
Last
year, Annika Sorenstam became the first LPGA player
to surpass $7 million in career earnings en route to
winning her fourth LPGA Player of the Year and money
title. In 2002, Sorenstam has picked up right
where she left off by winning three more tournaments
to raise her career LPGA win total to 34.
Although
Links 2003 is not scheduled to hit the store shelves
until this fall, the widely anticipated PC title
will be on display later this month at the
Electronic Entertainment Expo (E3) in Los Angeles.
