THE MEGA-LINKS PAGE
HISTORY
(The boring stuff...)

Early on in the year 2000 Dave received several notifications from his service provider (Cox@Home) via e-mail that an upgrade to my service was available. This new upgrade boasted many great new features such as increased webspace limits and additional e-mail accounts just to name a couple. Without further adieu he went and downloaded the upgrade and installed it...boy was he sorry:(

The new upgrade completely overwrote his pre-existing Internet Explorer web browser leaving me with a candy coated Cox Cable "Kiddie" version of my IE browser. He found that several essential browser features had been removed and replaced with some frilly buttons and whistles which he had no use for whatsoever. The worst was yet to come however...

He soon found out that on many occasions after launching his browser that his bookmarks would not be available. Each time this happened he would receive a message on my Cox IE Kiddie Browser stating "Sorry! Your personal preferences are not available at this time. We hope to have them back soon!". It turns out that in the course of the upgrade, things like his bookmarks were now stored with my service provider vice on his computer. Each time they (Cox Cable) were having technical difficulties with their service (which was constantly) he had no way of accessing his bookmarks.

Hope to have his personal preferences back soon??? We're these guys for real? Soon was not good enough! Did they not understand that he was a Linksaholic and needed to get to many of my favorite Links hangouts immediately? He had rounds to be played at various sites, message board threads to respond to, Links News to catch up on, new charts and saved shots to download. We were talking a very serious crisis here, since without the aid of his bookmarks I was having a difficult time finding many of the Links sites that he enjoyed frequenting.

As the hours turned to days and the days turned to weeks, the missing bookmark crisis seemed to be increasing in it's frequency. That is when he arrived at the idea to build a small webpage backing up the addresses of my most visited web sites. The idea worked like a charm! Every time his bookmarks were not available I would simply type in the address for his site and PRESTO...there was the list of all the places he needed to get to.

Dave soon decided to take the "bookmark backup" concept one step further by adding urls for every possible Links site that he could find and then making his site available to others...thus The Mega-Links Page was officially born on June 4th, 2000.

Dave continued to run the site until July of 2003 when he then, on July 25, turned the site over to ReHit of apcd-courses.com.  Then on November 30, 2004, Mark(Hagios) took over administrative duties of the site.
